WAYNE – Several youth softball teams had their Tuesday night games shortened or canceled due to weather.
A trio of Dirt Devil softball teams were in action a couple of days following their home invite this past weekend.
The Dirt Devil 14s visited NEN (Pender) and were able to complete their first game. NEN secured a 10-9 victory as the Dirt Devil 14s fell to 3-7-1 on the season.
In the one-run loss, Jordyn Gamble doubled and drove in two runs while Lily Gubbels singled twice, drove in a run and scored three times. Reagan McGuire singled, drove in two runs and scored; Kaylei McIntosh singled and scored; Kassidee Holz scored twice as single runs came from Serenity Heil and Justice Olson.
Gamble (121 pitches) suffered the loss in four and a third innings allowing 10 runs (five earned) off three hits while striking out three batters and walking 11.

The Dirt Devil 14s will next compete in the 14U – C, 14-team double elimination District hosted by West Point this weekend. The 14s have earned a first round bye to Saturday, at 8 a.m. and will await the winner of either Arlington 14U or Nebraska Edge 14U Rathjen who play Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.
The Dirt Devil 12s visited Pender and had their game called off in the middle of the fourth inning. Final from the three complete innings favored Pender 12U. The Dirt Devil 12s are now 8-10-1 on the season and will next visit West Point Yellow 12U at 6/7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9.
The Dirt Devil 9s visited BRLD but had their games canceled to remain 1-7 on the season. The first game was called due to lightning in the bottom of the third with two outs and two strikes on the batter.
The Dirt Devil 10s were also scheduled to face the Rockets but had to cancel due to weather. The 10s remain 12-10 on the season.
The Dirt Devil 9s and 10s are both scheduled to complete in the 10U C, 30-team double elimination bracket this weekend hosted by Bennington. The 10s will open with Quakes 10U – James at 6:30 p.m. on Bennington Field #1 while the 9s will face Fremont Force 10U also at 6:30 p.m. from Bennington Field #3 Friday night.
The Dirt Devil 16/18s (10-2) will compete in the 16/18U C, 10-team double elimination District on Friday, June 10 at 8 p.m. The 16/18s will face Fremont Force – Weyer from Timmerman Field in West Point.
