WAYNE – All four youth softball teams in Wayne began their home tournament Friday evening.
From the Summer Sports Complex in Wayne, the Dirt Devil Invite will feature over 70 games from June 4 – 6 with several games also being played on the Wayne State College campus.
In the 18s Division, the Dirt Devils began Pool A competition by defeating Norfolk Rogue, 8-1 Friday evening.
Saturday’s schedule for the Dirt Devils will feature games against Cavalry at 11:30 a.m. and vs. Creighton Thunder at 4 p.m. on the WSC campus. Bracket play will begin Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
For the Dirt Devil 14s, the team posted an 11-6 victory over Kelly’s Friday evening to begin Pool A action.
The Dirt Devils will play two more pool play games at the Summer Sports Complex at 2:30 p.m. against Cavalry (Southeast Field) and 5:30 p.m. against Yankton Fury Twisters (Northeast Field). Bracket play will begin Sunday at 11 a.m.
From the 12s Division, the Dirt Devils suffered a 10-0 loss to Kelly’s in Pool A competition.
Two more pool play games will be held Saturday for the Dirt Devil 12s against Cavalry (Southwest) at 8:30 a.m. and Highway 91 (Southeast) at 11:30 a.m. Bracket play will begin Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
In the 10s Division, seven teams have been pooled into one bracket. Friday evening results for the Dirt Devils saw Kelly’s win 7-5 and Pender also defeated the Dirt Devils, 11-10.
Saturday Dirt Devil 10s action will be against Elkhorn Elite – Pearson at 8:30 a.m. and against Nebraska Venom – Rychly at 7 p.m. both on the Northwest Field. Several more games are scheduled for Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
