Dirt Devil Invite Saturday Scores

WAYNE – A total of 27 teams began a two-day softball invite on Saturday.

Following a 90-minute delay to the start of Saturday morning games, both the Summer Sports Complex and Pete Chapman Softball Complex on the campus of Wayne State College were used for the 2022 Dirt Devil Invite in Wayne.

The Dirt Devil 16/18s began pool play with a 13-1 victory over Wakefield; lost 4-2 to Fremont Force McGee and won 12-4 over Yankton Fury Fire. The Dirt Devil 16/18s are now 10-2 on the season.

In the opening win against Wakefield, Brooklyn Kruse recorded a homerun and two total runs scored while Kierah Haase singled twice and scored twice. Taytem Ellis singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Jersi Jensen singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Delaney Kruse singled, drove in a run and scored; Hailey Schroeder singled and drove in a run; Caitlyn Mostek and Kylen Robbins both singled and scored; Liberty Titiml accounted for three RBI and run scored as Logan Miller scored.

Sammi Gubbels (47 pitches) picked up the complete game victory allowing one run while striking out four batters.

During the loss to Fremont Force McGee, Delaney Kruse singled twice and drove in a run while Gubbels singled and drove in a run. Mostek singled twice; Titiml and Ellis both singled and scored as Haase, Brooklyn Kruse and Schroeder all singled.

Gubbels (60 pitches) suffered the loss in five innings allowing four earned runs off nine hits while walking one batter.

From the final pool play game victory over Yankton Fury Fire, Ellis singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Jensen and Robbins both singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored as Miller doubled, drove in two runs and scored. Delaney Kruse singled three times, drove in a run and scored twice; Titiml singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Haase singled and scored; Brooklyn Kruse and Gubbels both added a RBI and run scored as Schroeder scored.

Gubbels (60 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in three innings allowing four runs (three earned) off five hits while striking out two batters and walking one.

The Dirt Devil 14s opened pool play with a 4-3 victory over HWY 91 and then suffered an 8-3 loss to Yankton Fury Twister. The Dirt Devil 14s are now 2-6 on the season.

In the win over HWY 91, Kaylei McIntosh singled and drove in two runs while Reagan McGuire scored twice. Jordyn Gamble and Makenna Mattison both scored.

Gamble (77 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in four innings allowing three runs (one earned) off one hit while striking out and walking five batters each.

During the loss against Yankton Fury Twisters, Alexis Legler singled while single runs came from McGuire, McIntosh and Gamble.

Gamble (122 pitches) suffered the loss in five innings allowing eight runs (five earned) off seven hits while striking out four batters and walking six.

The Dirt Devil 12s started pool play with an 11-0 loss to the Tri State Titans and 6-5 loss to the Yankton Fury Lancers. The Dirt Devil 12s are now 7-9-1 on the season.

In the loss to the Tri State Titans, the Dirt Devil 12s didn’t record a hit.

Kamden Dobbins (60 pitches) suffered the loss in two and a third allowing four runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out two batters and walking five. Kinnley McGuire (35) worked two-thirds of an inning allowing seven runs off two hits while striking out two batters and walking three.

From the loss against Yankton Fury Lancers, Lillian Johnson singled, drove in a run and scored twice while Alivia Kesting singled and drove in a run. Elizabeth Hix and Kinnley McGuire both accounted for a RBI and run scored; Sophia Petersen added a RBI as Reagan Heithold scored.

McGuire (89 pitches) suffered the loss in four innings allowing six runs (four earned) off seven hits while striking out six batters and walking three.

The Dirt Devil 10s began pool play with a 6-4 loss to Pender 10U; 11-0 loss to Norfolk Kelly’s Gray; 8-7 victory over the DV Panthers and 12-7 win against Sioux City Futures 10U Navy. The Dirt Devil 10s are now 11-9 on the season.

In the loss against Pender, Jessa McMenamin doubled and scored twice while single runs came from Hadley Woehler and Lorelai Sorenson.

Sorenson (98 pitches) suffered the loss in three innings allowing six earned runs off two hits while striking out seven batters and walking 10.

During the loss to Norfolk Kelly’s, Alyssa Bargholz doubled while McMenamin singled.

From the victory over the DV Panthers, Nevaeh Hanson and Sorenson both singled, drove in a run and scored twice while Sadi Fredrickson singled, drove in a run and scored. McMenamin singled and scored; Woehler accounted for two RBI as Avery Gubbels and Reagan McManigal both scored.

McMenamin (68 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in four innings allowing four earned runs off three hits while striking out seven batters and walking two.

In the win over Sioux City Futures Navy, Hanson and McManigal both recorded a homerun, two total RBI and two total runs scored while Sorenson singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice. Kennedy Rubendall singled, drove in two runs and scored; McMenamin, Woehler, Gubbels, Hadley Dunklau and Madison Olson all singled and scored as Bargholz accounted for a RBI.

Combining for the victory were Sorenson (46 pitches) in a third of an inning allowing five earned runs while striking out one batter and walking seven as McMenamin (41) worked an inning allowing two earned runs while striking out one batter and walking seven.

The Dirt Devil 9s opened pool play with a 14-1 loss to Norfolk Kelly’s Gray; 9-8 loss to Sioux City Futures 10U Navy and 11-10 victory over WDSA (Wahoo). The Dirt Devil 9s are now 1-6 on the season.

In the loss against Kelly’s Gray, one run was scored by Norah Heithold.

Harper Hanson (110 pitches) suffered the loss in two innings allowing 14 runs off nine hits while striking out six batters and walking nine.

During the loss against Sioux City Futures Navy, Heithold singled, drove in two runs and scored while MaKenna Williamson singled and scored. Lillyah Sievers accounted for a RBI as single runs came from Kiley Dutcher, Rebekah Fowel, Winora Dorcey, Lucille Ocampo, Izzy Ruwe and Hanson.

Hanson (105 pitches) suffered the loss in three and two-thirds allowing nine runs off seven hits while striking out nine batters and walking eight.
