Dirt Devil 16/18s Split Home Outing; 10s, 9s Victorious

WAYNE – A trio of Dirt Devil softball programs were in action during weeknight home outings.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Dirt Devil 16/18s welcomed in NEN; the Dirt Devil 10s hosted West Point 10U while the Dirt Devil 9s welcomed in West Point Yellow.

In the Dirt Devil 16/18s contest, NEN won game one, 6-3 and then also won 5-2 as the Dirt Devils fell to 14-6.

During the 6-3 loss, Delaney Kruse singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored while Taytem Ellis singled twice and scored. Logan Miller singled and drove in a run; Hailey Schroeder singled and scored as Jersi Jensen singled.

Sammi Gubbels (80 pitches) suffered the complete game loss in five innings allowing six runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out five batters and walking three.

In the 5-2 loss, Miller singled twice while Kierah Haase singled and scored. Jensen also scored.

Gubbels (69) suffered the loss in four innings allowing five runs (two earned) off eight hits while striking out eight batters.

During the 10s doubleheader, Wayne secured wins of 9-6 and 13-5 over West Point 10U. The Dirt Devil 10s are now 16-12 on the season.

In the 9-6 victory, Jessa McMenamin doubled twice, drove in a run and scored twice while Alyssa Bargholz tripled and drove in two runs.

Hadley Woehler singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Madison Olson singled, drove in two runs and scored; Lorelai Sorenson singled, drove in a run and scored; Hadley Dunklau and Chloe Kai both singled and scored as Avery Gubbels scored.

Sorenson (108 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in four innings allowing six runs (three earned) off one hit while striking out eight batters and walking 10.

From the 13-5 win, Kai singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Woehler singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored; Gubbels doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as Sorenson tripled, drove in a run and scored.

McMenamin singled twice, drove in a run and scored; Dunklau and Sadi Fredrickson both singled, drove in a run and scored; Kennedy Rubendall accounted for a RBI and run scored as Reagan McManigal, Olson and Nevaeh Hanson all scored.

McMenamin (67) picked up the complete game victory in three innings allowing five runs (two earned) off one hit while striking out eight batters and walking four.

The Dirt Devil 9s welcomed in West Point Yellow and secured a pair of 15-3 victories improving to 3-9-1 on the season.

In the win, Izzy Ruwe, Makenna Williamson, Harper Hanson and Zoe Myer all scored twice. Single runs came from Rebekah Fowel, Winora Dorcey, Nora Heithold, Kiley Dutcher, Aubree Schmale, Willa Ruth and Lillyah Sievers.

Williamson (77 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in three innings allowing three runs (two earned) off one hit while striking out seven batters and walking six.

Upcoming Dirt Devil softball games will be for the 12s (13-12-1) who host West Point Gray while the Dirt Devil 14s (4-10) will also host Douglas County West on Thursday, June 16. Game times are scheduled for 6/7:30 p.m.

 

The Yankton Tournament is also this weekend.
