Dirt Devil 14s Outscore Road Triangular Opponents 32-0, 12s Sweep Home Doubleheader

WAYNE/WISNER – With state tournament dates approaching, both the Dirt Devil 12s and 14s took part in Tuesday evening doubleheaders.

In Wisner, the Dirt Devil 14s competed in a road triangular by shutting out both the host Wisner, 16-0 and winning 16-0 over Logan View while the Dirt Devil 12s hosted Wisner from the Summer Sports Complex and won both games of 13-8 and 12-2.

The Dirt Devil 14s are now 22-8 while the Dirt Devil 12s improved to 18-12.

During the opening triangular game for the 14s, the Dirt Devils posted a seven-run second inning while adding two more runs in the third to lead 10-0. The Dirt Devil 14s closed out the fourth with seven more runs to win 16-0.

Four of the 10 hits went extra-bases with Taytem Ellis recording two singles, a double, a triple, five RBI and two runs scored while Rylin Hall singled twice, tripled, drove in two runs and scored twice. Caitlyn Mostek tripled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Sammi Gubbels singled, drove in two runs and scored; Lily Gubbels singled and scored twice; Carli Canham scored three times; Kierah Haase scored twice as Jersi Jensen and Liberty Titiml both scored.

Sammi Gubbels (52 pitches) secured the complete game win in four innings allowing two hits while striking out eight batters and walking one.

From the night cap with Logan View, the Dirt Devil 14s scored seven runs in the first and nine more in the second to win 16-0.

Haase singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice while Mostek singled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice. Titiml singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Taytem Ellis, Canham and Jensen all singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Rylin Hall singled, drove in a run and scored; Lily Gubbels accounted for a RBI and run scored as Sammi Gubbels scored twice.

Hall (35 pitches) secured the complete game win in three innings allowing one hit while striking out one batter and walking two.

Moving into the first game for the 12s, the Dirt Devils scored a run in the opening inning and two more runs in the second to lead 3-0. The Dirt Devil 12s then outscored Wisner, 10-2 in the third while Wisner added six runs in the top of the fourth. The Dirt Devils held on for the 13-8 victory.

Alexis Legler doubled, drove in a run and scored twice while Sidney Nelson singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Jordyn Gamble and Makenna Mattison both singled, drove in a run and scored; Justice Olson singled and scored twice; Kaylei McIntosh accounted for two RBI and one run scored; Reagan McGuire added a RBI and run scored as Calie Hopkins scored three times.

Gamble (71 pitches) secured the win in three innings allowing two earned runs off two hits while striking out eight batters and walking four. Olson (36 pitches) worked a third of an inning allowing six earned runs off one hit while striking out one batter and walking five. Kinnley McGuire (10) pitched two-thirds of an inning striking out two batters.

In the final game, the Dirt Devil 12s jumped ahead early with nine runs in the first inning and outscored Wisner, 2-1 in the second to lead 11-1. Both teams scored a run in the fourth which favored the Dirt Devil 12s, 12-2.

Reagan McGuire tripled, drove in a run and scored twice; Jordyn Gamble singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Justice Olson doubled, drove in two runs and scored while Lillian Johnson doubled, drove in a run and scored.

Anna Dutcher singled twice and scored; Kinnley McGuire singled and scored twice; Kassidee Holz accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Alivia Kesting added a RBI and run scored as Gracelynn Daniels scored.

Reagan McGuire (99 pitches) secured the complete game win in four innings allowing two earned runs off one hit while striking out nine batters and walking seven.

Both the Dirt Devil 12s and 14s will be making a trip to Hastings for state tournament competition. The 12s will be in action this weekend, Friday, July 2 – Sunday, July 4 while the Dirt Devil 14s will be in Hastings next weekend, Friday, July 9 – Sunday, July 11.
