WEST POINT/WAYNE – A pair of Wayne Dirt Devil softball teams were in action Thursday evening.
The Dirt Devil 14s competed in a road triangular in West Point while the Wayne Dirt Devil 12s welcomed in the HWY 91 Cyclones.
In the opening game for the Dirt Devil 14s, WDSA (Wahoo) defeated the Dirt Devils, 10-5.
Jordyn Gamble posted the lone hit being a homerun to go along with three RBI and two runs scored. Kaylei McIntosh scored twice as Reagan McGuire added a run scored.
Gamble (71 pitches) suffered the loss in four innings allowing 10 runs (one earned) off five hits while striking out five batters and walking three.

From the final game of the evening, the host West Point topped the Dirt Devil 14s, 5-3. The Dirt Devil 14s are now 1-5 on the season.
McGuire singled and scored, Gamble singled as McIntosh scored twice.
McGuire (72 pitches) suffered the loss in three innings allowing five runs (two earned) off one hit while striking out eight batters and walking two.

The Dirt Devil 14s will open the Dirt Devil Invite against HWY 91 at 8:30 a.m. from the Summer Sports Complex (Southeast Field) on Saturday, June 4.
During the first game for the 12s, the Dirt Devils suffered a 6-2 loss.
Kinnley McGuire singled, drove in a run and scored while other singles came from Sidney Nelson, Lillian Johnson and Olivia Brandow. Sophia Petersen also scored.
McGuire (75 pitches) suffered the loss in six innings allowing six runs (two earned) off four hits while striking out eight batters.

In the second contest for the Dirt Devil 12s, Wayne secured a 9-5 victory as the Dirt Devil 12s are now 7-7-1 on the season following Thursday’s split.
Elizabeth Hix singled and drove in a run, Reagan Heithold singled as Sidney Nelson accounted for a RBI and two runs scored. Kinnley McGuire scored twice while other single runs came from Kamden Dobbins, Olivia Brandow, Bryn Tiedtke, Lillian Johnson and Anna Dutcher.
Dobbins (79 pitches) secured the victory in three and two-thirds allowing five runs (two earned) off two hits while striking out six batters and walking three.

The Dirt Devil 12s will open the Dirt Devil Invite on Saturday, June 4 at 1 p.m. against the Tri State Titans 12U from the Summer Sports Complex (Southeast Field).

The Dirt Devil 10s will take on Pender 10U (Southwest Field) while the Dirt Devil 9s will open with the Norfolk Kelly’s 10U Gray (Northwest Field) both at 8:30 a.m. from the Summer Sports Complex on Saturday.
