Dirt Devil 12s Sweep Home Doubleheader Over Oakland

WAYNE – The Dirt Devil 12 & Under softball team closed out their regular season home schedule with a doubleheader Wednesday night.

From the Summer Sports Complex, Wayne entertained Oakland.

After winning the first game 7-2, the Dirt Devil 12s took off for a 14-3 win in the second contest. Wayne is now 22-10 on the season.

In the opening game, Delaney Kruse singled, doubled and drove in two runs while Sammi Gubbels doubled and drove in two runs for Wayne. Jersi Jensen singled and drove in two runs; Caitlyn Mostek singled and drove in a run as Kierah Haase, Emily Jaeger, Rylin Hall and Norah Armstrong all singled.

Sammi Gubbels picked up the win in six innings allowing two runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out five batters and walking three.

 

From the second contest, Wayne produced 17 hits (five extra base hits) led by Hall who singled, doubled, tripled and drove in five runs. Aubrey Russel singled twice, tripled and drove in three runs; Kruse singled twice, doubled and drove in a run; Kierah Haase singled and doubled; Charli Sievers singled twice; Jersi Jensen singled and drove in two runs while Mackenzie Nissen, Taytem Ellis and Kadence Rees all singled as Armstrong accounted for a RBI.

Nissen picked up the win in four innings allowing three runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out eight batters.

After the Dirt Devil 10s close out their home schedule Thursday night with Highway 91 at 6:30 p.m., they’ll join the Dirt Devil 12s during league tourney competition. Games for the 10s will be hosted by Tekamah-Herman while 12 & Under games will be held in Fremont Friday, June 21 – Sunday, June 23.
