Dirt Devil 12s State Bound, Tekamah-Herman Stumps Wayne Twice

BENNINGTON – The Dirt Devil 12s took part in District C action over the weekend to place inside the top six.

Being played in Bennington, Wayne fell in their opening round game against Tekamah-Herman (7-2) while picking up wins over Omaha Royals (19-2), Edge 12U (11-3); Edge 11U (2-1) and Yutan (16-9) before falling to Tekamah-Herman for the second time (13-2). The Dirt Devil 12s are now 8-10-1 on the season and have qualified for state.

From the opening round defeat to Tekamah-Herman, Jersi Jensen singled twice as Hailey Schroeder and Taytem Ellis both singled and drove in a run. Liberty Titiml and Sammi Gubbels both singled.

Rachel Hobbs suffered the loss in four innings allowing seven runs (one earned) off of six hits while striking out six batters and walking one.

In the win over the Omaha Royals, Ellis recorded a single, double and one RBI as Hannah Gubbels added a double and two RBI. Liberty Titiml and Delaney Kruse both singled twice; Schroeder singled and drove in a run; Natalie Kruger singled twice and drove in a run; Jensen singled and drove in two runs while Sam Gubbels and Hobbs both singled.

Rylin Hall picked up the win and Dirt Devil 12 pitching stats in two innings allowed two earned runs off of one hit while striking out four batters and walking two.

During the win over Edge 12U, Kruger and Schroeder both singled, doubled and drove in two runs to pace Wayne. Sam Gubbels, Delaney Kruse and Ellis all added a single and RBI. Hobbs single twice; Hannah Gubbels singled twice and drove in two runs as Emily Jaeger and Titiml both singled.

Sammi Gubbels picked up the win in four innings allowing three earned runs off of four hits while striking out five batters and walking eight.

From the win over Edge 11U, Ellis singled twice and Hannah Gubbels doubled. Kierah Haase and Hobbs both singled as Delaney Kruse accounted for the lone RBI.

Hobbs picked up the win in six innings allowing an earned run off of 10 hits while striking out two batters.

In the win over Yutan, Hannah Gubbels and Jensen both singled, doubled and drove in three runs to pace Wayne. Sammi Gubbels singled and drove in a run; Schroeder singled and drove in a run; Delaney Kruse and Hobbs singled twice as Titiml tacked on a single.

Rylin Hall picked up the win in three innings allowing nine earned runs off of eight hits while striking out two batters and walking four.

During the second loss to Tekamah-Herman, Hannah Gubbels singled and doubled as Sam Gubbels singled twice and drove in a run. Madelyn Janke, Ellis, Hobbs and Titiml all singled.

Delaney Kruse suffered the loss as the Dirt Devil 12s pitching staff allowed 13 runs (12 earned) off of nine hits while striking out two batters and walking eight.

The Dirt Devil 12s will next host a triangular on Wednesday, June 13 from the Summer Sports Complex with game times set for 6, 7:30 and 9 p.m.
