WAYNE – Just like the Post 43 Juniors for baseball, a youth softball team saw a mid-week contest moved back a day due to weather.
The Dirt Devil 12 & Under softball team hosted Pender Thursday night from the Summer Sports Complex.
In the first game, Pender won 6-1 which included two runs in each of the fourth and sixth innings.
Kierah Haase recorded two singles as Sammi Gubbels and Jersi Jensen both singled for Wayne.
Sammi Gubbels suffered the loss in six innings allowing six runs (five earned) off six hits while striking out nine batters and walking four.
From the second game, Wayne bounced back with an 8-4 victory where runs were scored of 4-2 in each of the first and third innings. The Dirt Devil 12s are now 4-3.
Kierah Haase produced two more singles and drove in a run while Delaney Kruse singled and drove in two runs. Kadence Rees singled and drove in a run as Taytum Ellis, Sammi Gubbels, Caitlyn Mostek, Norah Armstrong and Jersi Jensen all singled.
Rylin Hall picked up the win in four innings allowing four runs (one earned) off five hits while striking out five batters and walking three.
The Dirt Devil 12s will join the 10s and 14s Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 during the Dirt Devil Invite from the Summer Sports Complex.
All three teams will be in action at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
