Dirt Devil 12s Shutout By Central City Stampede In Opening State Tournament Round

HASTINGS – After receiving a first round bye in the opening round of the 2021 Class C State Softball Tournament, the Dirt Devil 12s continued their postseason Friday evening.

In Hastings, the Dirt Devil 12s opened the 25-team bracket against the Central City Stampede.

Central City then defeated the Dirt Devils, 13-0 as the Stampede opened the tournament with a 10-0 win over the Seward Jazz.

Central City scored early with seven runs in the first and two more in the second to lead 9-0. The Stampede then closed out the game with a four-run fourth to win 13-0. The Dirt Devils 12s fell to 18-13.

Jordyn Gamble singled twice for the Dirt Devils.

Kinnley McGuire (50 pitches) suffered the loss in two innings allowing nine runs (five earned) off nine hits while striking out two batters. Gamble (58 pitches) worked two innings allowing four earned runs off five hits while walking five batters.

The Dirt Devil 12s will next look to fight their way through the loser’s bracket on Saturday, July 3 at 9:30 a.m. against the Pierce Pacers. The team will need to win five games to advance to Sunday.
