Dirt Devil 12s Record Two Wins Over Columbus Fire & Ice, Dirt Devils 14s Sweep Vermillion Flamez

WAYNE – The Dirt Devil 12 and 14 and Under softball teams were in action Tuesday evening.

From the 12s double header with Columbus Fire & Ice, Wayne won both games 14-2 and 12-8. The Dirt Devil 12s improve to 4-8-1.

Hannah Gubbels went off for two singles, a double and six RBI to pace the Dirt Devil 12s at the plate. Delaney Kruse added a single and double while Taytem Ellis singled and drove in three runs. Liberty Titiml singled and drove in a run as Hailey Schroeder singled.

Rachel Hobbs picked up the complete game win in four innings allowing two runs (one earned) off of four hits while striking out seven batters and walking two.

Schroeder tallied a triple, two singles and three RBI to lead the Dirt Devils 12s in the second game. Jersi Jensen singled twice and drove in a run; Madelyn Janke picked up a single, double and RBI; Sam Gubbels doubled and drove in a run; Caitlyn Mostek singled and drove in a run while Emily Jaeger and Sammi Gubbels each accounted for a RBI.

Hobbs picked up the complete game win in five innings allowing eight runs (seven earned) off of five hits while striking out 16 batters and walking four.

 

Moving into the Dirt Devil 14s contest with the Vermillion Flamez, Wayne won 7-0 and 9-1 to improve to 12-3-1.

Virginia Kniesche and Hope O’Reilly paced Wayne at the plate with a pair of singles each. Amara Hurlbert and Logan Miller both singled and drove in a run as Brooklyn Kruse singled.

Kendall Dorey picked up the complete game win in five innings allowing two hits while striking out 10 batters and walking three.

Hurlbert tabbed a pair of singles and two RBI to pace the Dirt Devil 14s at the plate. Brianna Nissen, Aliah Schulz and Kruse all singled twice and drove in a run. Hope O’Reilly singled twice as Taytum Sweetland added a RBI.

Hurlbert accounted for the complete game win in four innings allowing one run off of two hits while striking out six batters and walking two.

The Dirt Devil 12s are next in action during District competition this weekend in Bennington while the 14s will take part in the Sergeant Bluff Tourney also this weekend.
