Dirt Devil 12s Outscore West Point Yellow, 32-9

WEST POINT – With district competition for all Dirt Devil softball teams getting underway this weekend, the 12s took to the road for a weeknight outing.

From Timmerman Field in West Point, the Dirt Devil 12s visited West Point Yellow on Thursday.

The Dirt Devil 12s picked up wins of 12-0 and 20-9 improving to 11-10-1 on the season.

During game one, Elizabeth Hix and Sophia Petersen accounted for two RBI and a run scored each; Anna Dutcher added two RBI as Kinnley McGuire and Bryn Tiedtke both drove in a run and scored. Reagan Heithold and Olivia Brandow both had a RBI and two runs scored; Lainey Meyer recorded a RBI as single runs came from Kamden Dobbins, Lillian Johnson, Sidney Nelson and Alivia Kesting.

McGuire (65 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout win in three innings not allowing a hit while striking out seven batters and walking four.

From the second contest, Dobbins singled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Johnson singled, drove in two runs and scored three times; McGuire singled, drove in two runs and scored twice while Hix singled, drove in a run and scored three times.

Brandow singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Dutcher accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Reagan Heithold, Meyer and Tiedtke all had a RBI and run scored; Nelson added two RBI; Kesting scored twice as Petersen scored.

Dobbins (101 pitches) picked up the win in two and two-thirds allowing nine runs (seven earned) off three hits while striking out three batters and walking nine. McGuire (9) recorded the final out striking out one batter and walking another.

The Dirt Devil 12s will next open district tournament play in Blair against Bennington Elite 12U at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 10.
