HASTINGS – Following a Friday night loss, the Dirt Devil 12s continued the 2021 Class C State Tournament.
From Hastings, the Dirt Devil 12s began the postseason tourney with a 13-0 Friday night loss to the Central City Stampede. The Dirt Devils then suffered Saturday losses of 5-4 to the Pierce Pacers and 18-10 to Aurora Edge Red.
The Dirt Devil 12s ended their season at 18-15.
In the Saturday games, the Dirt Devils scored two runs in the first inning against Pierce. The Pacers then took the lead with three runs in the fourth as both teams scored two runs in the fifth which favored the Piercer Pacers, 5-4.
Alex Legler doubled and singled while Reagan McGuire doubled and scored. Courtney Roeber singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Jordyn Gamble singled twice and drove in a run as Anna Dutcher singled and scored.
Reagan McGuire (118 pitches) suffered the loss in four and two-thirds allowing five runs (three earned) off one hit while striking out seven batters and walking nine.

In the final game of the season, both teams scored seven runs in the first inning before the Dirt Devil 12s added a run in the second. Aurora then added three runs in the third and outscored the Dirt Devils, 8-2 in the fourth to win 18-10.
Roeber singled three times, drove in two runs and scored while Justice Olson singled twice, drove in a run and scored three times. Kinnley McGuire singled twice and drove in two runs; Legler singled twice and scored; Anna Dutcher singled twice, drove in a run and scored; Reagan McGuire singled, drove in two runs and scored; Gamble singled and scored as single runs came from Lillian Johnson and Alivia Kesting.
Gamble (108 pitches) suffered the loss in three and a third innings allowing 15 runs (14 earned) off nine hits while striking out three batters and walking seven. Kinnley McGuire (10 pitches) worked two-thirds of an inning allowing three earned runs off six hits.

The Dirt Devil 14s will open the Class C State Softball Tournament in Hastings this Friday against Wakefield.
