Dirt Devil 10s Split Home Doubleheader

WAYNE – With districts for the Dirt Devil 10s scheduled to be played in Bennington this weekend, the Wayne youth softball team hosted a regular season doubleheader Thursday night.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Dirt Devil 10s entertained Wisner.

Wayne won the opening game, 12-6 while Wisner took the second contest 11-9. The Dirt Devil 10s are now 4-9 on the season.

In the opening game, Jordyn Gamble singled and drove in three runs for Wayne while Kinley McGuire singled and drove in a run. Reagan McGuire doubled, Caylie Hopkins singled as Anna Dutcher, Nyla Bolles and Lily Gubbels all accounted for a RBI.

Justice Olson picked up the win in an inning and two-thirds allowing six runs (three earned) off one hit while striking out four batters and walking eight. Reagan McGuire worked two innings striking out five batters and walking another three.

From the second game, Bolles doubled and drove in two runs while Lily Gubbels singled and drove in two runs. Kinley McGuire and Courtney Roeber both singled and drove in a run as Justice Olson and Makenna Mattison each tallied a single.

Gamble suffered the loss in two-thirds of relief allowing five runs (four earned) off three hits while striking out two batters and walking three. Kinley McGuire worked an inning allowing five earned runs while striking out three batters and walking four as Reagan McGuire pitched two-thirds of an inning allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out two batters and walking one.
