Dirt Devil 10s Finish League Tournament Third, 9s With Solid Performance

ARLINGTON – Both of the Dirt Devil 10s and 9s resumed their league tournament over the weekend.

From the Two Rivers State Bank Complex in Arlington the Dirt Devil 10s began Saturday in the winner’s bracket while the Dirt Devil 9s had to fight off elimination.

#18 Dirt Devil 10s (23-17) shutout #2 Tekamah-Herman – Gold, 6-0 before also winning 10-6 over #7 West Point – Gray on Saturday. Sunday’s results saw the Dirt Devil 10s shutout #6 Kelly’s – Green, 11-0 before falling in back-to-back games of 4-3 to #4 Kelly’s – Grey and 9-3 to #2 Tekamah-Herman – Gold one game away from the finals.

The Dirt Devil 10s ended their league tournament with a third place finish.

Kelly’s – Grey defeated Tekamah-Herman – Gold, 6-5 in the finals.

In the Saturday win over TH – Gold, Lorelai Sorenson singled three times and scored twice; Jessa McMenamin singled and homered; Reagan McManigal also homered; Madison Olson singled, doubled and scored twice as Avery Gubbels doubled and drove in a run.

Nevaeh Hanson singled and drove in two runs as Chloe Kai singled and drove in a run.

Sorenson (74) picked up the complete game shutout victory in five innings not allowing a hit while striking out 12 batters and walking two.

During the Saturday win against West Point, Kai recorded a homerun, two total RBI and two runs scored; Sorenson doubled twice and scored twice as McManigal doubled, drove in a run and scored.

Hadley Woehler singled twice and scored; Hanson singled and scored twice; Hadley Dunklau singled, drove in a run and scored as McMenamin scored.

Sorenson (76) picked up the complete game victory allowing six runs (three earned) while striking out eight batters and walking six.

From the Sunday victory over Kelly’s – Green, McMenamin tripled, drove in a run and scored twice; Kai tripled, drove in a run and scored as Woehler tripled and scored.

Olson singled, drove in a run and scored; McManigal singled and scored; Sorenson added a RBI and run scored; Dunklau and Gubbels both accounted for a RBI; Hanson scored twice as Alyssa Bargholz and Sadi Fredrickson both scored.

McMenamin (13) picked up the win in an inning striking out three batters as Sorenson (34) worked two scoreless innings not allowing a hit while striking out four batters and walking two.

In the Sunday loss to Kelly’s – Grey, Gubbels singled and drove in a run while McMenamin doubled. Woehler, Kai and Hanson all scored.

McMenamin (93) suffered the loss in five and third innings allowing four runs (one earned) off six hits while striking out 10 batters and walking one.

During the rematch with TH – Gold, Hanson tripled and drove in a run while Sorenson singled, drove in a run and scored. Olson singled and drove in a run as McMenamin and McManigal both singled and scored.

Combining for the loss were McMenamin (56) in an inning and two-thirds allowing five runs (four earned) off one hit while striking out five batters and walking seven as Sorenson (45) pitched two-thirds allowing four runs (two earned) while striking out two batters and walking six.

#19 Dirt Devil 9s (5-15-1) fought off back-to-back Saturday elimination games of 13-3 over #13 Fremont Force – McClain and 11-4 victory against #12 FC Pioneers – Iwen before being eliminated by #14 Bennington Badgers, 8-7 Saturday night (DD 9s also lost to the Badgers 10-5 on Friday).

In the win against Fremont Force, Izzy Ruwe, MaKenna Williamson, Rebekah Fowel and Nora Heithold all scored twice. Harper Hanson, Lucille Ocampo, Willa Ruth, Zoe Myer and Lillyah Sievers all scored.

Hanson (79) picked up the victory in two and two-thirds allowing three runs while striking out six batters and walking seven.

During the victory over FC Pioneers, Ruwe doubled, drove in a run and scored while Williamson singled three times, drove in a run and scored twice.

Myer singled twice, drove in a run and scored; Ruth singled, drove in two runs and scored; Hanson singled and scored; Fowel and Sievers both scored twice as Ocampo scored.

Hanson (66) picked up the victory in three innings allowing four runs off three hits while striking out eight batters and walking three.

From the loss to the Bennington Badgers, Hanson singled, recorded a homerun, three total RBI and a run scored as Williamson singled, tripled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Sievers singled twice and scored; Ruwe singled and scored as single runs came from Ruth and Aubree Schmale.

Hanson (83) suffered the loss in three innings allowing eight runs off five hits while striking out five batters and walking seven.
