WAYNE – Following Class C District competition and qualifying for state, the Dirt Devil 10 & Under softball team was back in action Tuesday evening.
From the Summer Sports Complex, Wayne played host to Wisner.
In the opening contest, Wayne used a five-run first inning and a 5-1 second inning to lead 10-1. The Dirt Devil 10s then outscored Wisner 5-4 in the third to win 15-5.

Joslyn Johnson recorded a pair of singles and one RBI as Aubrey Russel added a single and triple for Wayne. Mackenzie Nissen picked up a double and two RBI; Charli Sievers drove in a run and singled as Justice Olson, Nyla Bolles, Norah Armstrong, Caylie Hopkins and Makenna Mattison all tacked on a RBI. Jordyn Gamble accounted for two RBI.
Mackenzie Nissen picked up the win in two innings allowing one run off of one hit while striking out six batters. Russell worked an inning allowing four earned runs while striking out two batters and walking four.
From the second game, Wayne again took advantage of a 5-2 first inning before Wisner answered with a 3-1 second inning. Wisner tied the game up with a run in the top of the third before the Dirt Devil 10s scored a run in the home half to win 7-6 and improve to 9-8 on the season.

Gamble and Russell both singled to pace Wayne at the plate. Johnson accounted for the lone RBI.
Sievers picked up the complete game win in three innings allowing six runs (two earned) off of one hit while striking out six batters and walking nine.
The Dirt Devil 10s will get the weekend off and next visit Wisner on Monday, June 18 at 6/7:30 p.m.
