Dirt Devil 10s, 12s Eliminated In Back-to-Back Losses During State Tournament Action

HASTINGS – Dirt Devil softball continued for both the younger teams Saturday and Sunday in Hastings during the Class C USA State Softball Tournament.

In 10 & Under action, Wayne suffered loses to Seward, 10-0 and Waverly, 7-1. The Dirt Devil 10s end their season at 16-13.

In Saturday’s game, Charli Sievers recorded Wayne’s only hit with a single. The Dirt Devil 10s picked up 10 errors.

Mackenzie Nissen suffered the loss allowing 10 runs (three earned) off of seven hits while striking out three batters.

From Sunday’s game, Jordyn Gamble singled and drove in a run for the Dirt Devil 10s. Regan McGuire and Aubrey Russell both singled.

Nissen suffered the complete game loss in three innings allowing seven earned runs off of seven hits while striking out five batters and walking three.

Moving into the 12 & Under bracket, Wayne had their season come to an end with losses to Pender, 14-3 and Stingers Black, 10-2. The Dirt Devil 12s ended their year at 23-15-1 on the season.

In the first Saturday game, Natalie Kruger singled twice and drove in a run as Taytem Ellis and Hailey Schroeder both singled twice. Delaney Kruse and Jersi Jensen both singled and drove in a run as Sam Gubbels and Kierah Haase each singled.

Sammi Gubbels suffered the loss in two and two-thirds allowing eight earned runs off of nine hits while striking out two batters and walking six. Rylin Hall worked a third of an inning allowing six earned runs off of two hits while striking out one batter and walking six.

From the second Saturday loss, Taytem Ellis tripled and drove in a run for Wayne. Liberty Titiml, Hannah Gubbels, Natalie Kruger, Jersi Jensen and Kierah Haase all singled.

Rylin Hall suffered the loss in three and two-thirds allowing 10 earned runs off of nine hits while striking out three batters and walking six. Sammi Gubbels worked a third of an inning.
