CLEARWATER/STANTON – A pair of area high school basketball teams competed in day one action of their holiday basketball tournament Monday.
From Clearwater Public Schools, Tri County Northeast competed against Chambers/Wheeler Central during the Summerland Tournament.
The Wolfpack girls suffered a 63-30 loss to CWC while the Tri County Northeast boys defeated CWC, 71-19
During the other half of the bracket, the host Summerland girls defeated Walthill, 61-14 while the Walthill boys topped Summerland, 69-35.
Day two games have been moved to Wednesday, December 30.
Girls consolation game: Tri County Northeast vs. Walthill at 3 p.m.
Boys consolation: CWC vs. Summerland at 4:30 p.m.
Girls championship game: Summerland vs. CWC at 6 p.m.
Boys championship game: Tri County Northeast vs. Walthill at 7:30 p.m.
From Stanton Community Schools, the Stanton girls defeated Hartington-Newcastle, 42-29 while the Stanton boys topped HNS, 73-60. The other half of the bracket favored the Lutheran High Northeast girls over West Holt, 48-19 and LHNE boys defeated West Holt, 50-39.
Day two games have been postponed until Wednesday due to weather.
Girls consolation game will start at 2 p.m. (HNS vs. West Holt), followed by boys consolation at 3:45 p.m. (HNS vs. West Holt) as the girls championship game will be played around 5:30 p.m. (Stanton vs. LHNE) followed by the boys finals at 7:15 p.m. (Stanton vs. LHNE).
