LINCOLN – Closing out day one in the evening session of the 2022 NSAA Girls and Boys State Basketball Championships were the bottom half of four brackets.
Class A girls competed from the Pinnacle Bank Arena, Class B boys at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, Class C2 boys at Lincoln Northeast and D2 girls from Lincoln North Star.
Class A girls (PBA): #2 Fremont (23-2) defeated #7 Lincoln Pius X (19-7), 57-41 while #3 Lincoln High (22-2) defeated #6 Bellevue East (19-7), 52-41.
Class B boys (Devaney): #2 Omaha Roncalli (20-4) defeated #7 Waverly (16-10), 64-58 in double overtime while #6 Beatrice (17-5) #3 Scottsbluff (21-6), 38-35.
C2 boys (LNE): #8 Amherst (23-4) defeated #1 Freeman (24-3), 53-43 while #4 Grand Island Central Catholic (23-3) defeated #5 Doniphan-Trumbull (21-4), 51-37.
D2 girls (LNS): #2 Humphrey St. Francis (24-3) defeated #7 Diller-Odell (16-8), 58-44 while #3 St. Mary’s (20-6) defeated #6 Crawford (20-5), 36-18.
