OMAHA – Day one of session two came to a close Thursday evening from the CHI Health Center in Omaha.
Area wrestlers for Class A and D advanced 11 individuals to the semifinal round Friday during the 2020 NSAA State Wrestling Championships while the other 26 wrestlers will compete in consolation action Friday.

113: Cayden Ellis (33-5) won first round match by fall (5:02) over Ethan Kipp of Twin Loup; won quarterfinal match by decision (11-4) over Jacob Fox of Axtell; semifinal match vs. Scout Ashburn of Plainview (44-5).
132: Art Escalante (39-5) won first round match by TF-1.5 5:35 (18-3) over Jon Peterka of Sutherland; lost quarterfinal by fall (1:58) to Jeremy Larson of Brady and 2nd round consolation vs. TBA.
138: Gabe Escalate (38-7) won first round match by fall (3:06) over Ethan Dack of Shelton; won quarterfinal by SV-1 (10-8) over eConnor Sonderup of Fullerton and semifinal match vs. Dustin Klingsporn of Axtell (50-2).

Class B and C wrestlers will open with first and second round consolation matches at 9:30 a.m. followed by Class A/D at 12:30 p.m. Friday. All class semifinals and third round consolations will begin at 5 p.m. Friday night.
Saturday’s schedule will open with consolation semifinals at 8:30 a.m. followed by third and fifth place matches. The finals will begin around 2 p.m. for all classes.
