WAYNE – When the 2022 Fall volleyball season rolls around for the Wayne High volleyball program, a familiar face will be moving into the head coaching position.
Following the 2021 season, Traci Krusemark stepped down as the head coach after guiding the Wayne High volleyball program to over 200 wins and a trio of state tournament appearances during her 10 years as head coach.
According to a release from Wayne High School Athletic Director, Dave Wragge, Nichelle Daum has been named the next Wayne High volleyball head coach. Coach Daum has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach for the Blue Devils.
Athletic Director Dave Wragge states, “coach Krusemark was a great coach that produced consistent teams year in and year out. She did a great job of developing younger players and creating camps and opportunities for them to improve during the off season. The foundation built by coach Krusemark will help future Blue Devil teams as well.”
During the past 10 years, Traci Krusemark compiled an overall record of 215-109, earned the school’s only Mid State Conference tournament championship, two Mid State conference regular season championships to go along with the three state tournament appearances.
Wragge continued, “we are looking forward to having coach Daum leading the Lady Blue Devils. She has proven to be a knowledgeable volleyball coach that has a great passion for the game.”
The Wayne High volleyball team went 15-13 this past season falling to Battle Creek in five sets during the C1-7 Subdistrict Tournament semifinal. The team will be graduating six seniors.
