D-2 District Cross Country Results

PENDER – The 15-fastest individuals along with the top three district teams punched their ticket to state as area cross country runners were highlighted Thursday.

From Twin Creeks Golf Course in Pender, the Pendragons hosted the Class D-2 District Cross Country Race.

Crofton and Norfolk Catholic both had 17 points to be crowned district champion and district runner-up while Wisner-Pilger was the third state qualifying team with 27 points.

Freshman Jordyn Arens of Crofton won the girls race in a time of 19:05.

Wisner-Pilger top 15 qualifiers were freshman Alea Rasmussen (3rd – 20:42); freshman Allie Hassler (12th – 23:33) and junior Kayla Svoboda (15th – 24:05). Pender’s junior Alexis Bodlak also qualified for state with a seventh-place finish (22:04).

Boys results.

The Norfolk Catholic boys ran away with the district title with 14 points; followed by BRLD in second with 42 points and Crofton placed third with 45 points.

Junior Grant Lander of Homer won the boys race in a time of 17:03.

Area individual state qualifiers include freshman Brody Taylor of Ponca (ninth – 18:07) and senior Payton Biermann of Wisner-Pilger (13th – 18:27).

The 2020 NSAA State Cross Country Championships will be held at the Kearney Country Club on Friday, October 23. Class D girls will open the day at noon followed by the Class D boys at 12:30 p.m.
