Crofton Tests Wayne High In Set Two, Blue Devils Sweep Warriors

CROFTON – With just conference tourney games, a home contest and last night’s road match remaining on the regular season schedule for Wayne High, the Blue Devils looked to extend their win streak.

From Crofton high school, WHS visited the Warriors in a Class C1 at C2 showdown.

Wayne High secured the road sweep (25-11, 26-24, 25-10) to improve to 23-4 while the Warriors are now 8-12.

Wayne High saw two players record double-doubles from Lauren Pick with 16 kills and 16 digs while Emily Armstrong paced the team in digs with 25 and added 10 kills. Frankie Klausen followed with eight kills, Sydney Redden (four service aces/six digs) tallied three kills as Emily Long, Rubie Klausen and Mikaela McManigal all had a kill. Hailey Backer finished with 18 digs and Kiara Krusemark tacked on 34 set assists.

The Wayne High volleyball team will close out their home match schedule and put their 5-0 record in Wayne to the test next Thursday, October 17 when Battle Creek comes to town. The Bravettes entered the Thursday with a 22-2 record. The Mid State Conference Tournament will release their bracket next week with games to be played in Battle Creek and Pierce from Monday, October 21 – Thursday, October 24.
