CREIGHTON – Several area high school wrestling programs were represented during a weekend invitational.
From Creighton Community Public Schools, 10 teams participated in the Creighton Invite Saturday.
Plainview tallied 202 points to win the invite, followed closely by Crofton/Bloomfield with 190 points and Winside took third with 110.5 points. Quad County Northeast (LCC/Randolph) placed fourth with 109.5 points, Norfolk JV took fifth (99), Osmond and Pender both tied for sixth with 73 points, the host Creighton finished with 71 points (eighth), Tri County Northeast (Allen/Emerson-Hubbard) finished ninth with 35 points and Niobrara/Verdigre closed out the 10 teams with 18 points.
Winside: Gabe Escalante (145) won his weight class while Cayden Ellis (126), Maddox Magwire (132) all Art Escalante (138) all took second. Cooper Behmer (113) and Mason Topp (182) both finished third
Pender: Layne Sturek (106) placed runner-up while Matthew Ferris (113), Zachery Randall (152) and Alexander Johnson (160) all took fourth. Marcus Brown (106) finished fifth as Chase Hofmeister (138) and Brian Robertson (145) both came in sixth.
Quad County Northeast: Tie Hollandsworth (152) won his weight class while Trace Naeve (170) and Kolby Casey (220) both came in runner-up. Alex Heiman (132) and Fischer Carson (285) both finished third, Colby Wathor (195) took fourth, Sutton Ehlers (160) placed fifth and Asher Beed (106) took sixth.
Tri County Northeast: Wyatt Verzani (145) and Zach Shanks (285) both placed fourth. Hudson Morgan (113) and Brody Koopman (195) both finished fifth as Kaleb Kumm (170) took sixth.
