PENDER/LINCOLN – A handful of area cross country teams took part in district action Thursday.
From Twin Creeks Golf Course in Pender, the D-2 District race showcased several northeast Nebraska programs. Top three teams and top 15 individuals qualify for state.
Crofton was crowned district champion in the girls division with 10 points, followed by Wisner-Pilger and Oakland-Craig both qualifying for state with 26 points.
Crofton’s Jordyn Arens won the race in a time of 19:02 among 31 runners.
From the boys division, Norfolk Catholic was crowned district champion with 18 points, followed by Stanton as district runner-up with 38 points and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge took third with 42 points.
Grant Lander of Homer won the boys race in a time of 16:50 with 70 runners competing.
LCC state qualifiers include Preston Rose (10th – 17:54); Dillon Olson (13th – 18:07); Carter Korth (20th – 18:57); Tyler Olson (25th – 19:36) and Koby Detlefsen (48th – 21:03).
Complete NSAA State Cross Country Championship schedule from the Kearney Country Club on Friday, October 22 will start with girls Class D at noon; girls Class C at 12:30 p.m.; boys Class D at 1 p.m.; boys Class C at 1:30 p.m.; Class D/C awards at 2 p.m. followed by girls Class B at 2:30 p.m.; girls Class A at 3 p.m.; boys class B at 3:30 p.m.; boys Class A at 4 p.m. and Class B/A awards at 4:30 p.m.
