BATTLE CREEK – Junior American Legion will be in eastern Nebraska this weekend for the next five days.
With Columbus hosting Class B, Class C Junior Legion teams will make their way to Madison County in Battle Creek.
State games from Battle Creek City Park will be played from Saturday, July 14 – Wednesday July 18.
Teams from southwest and northeast Nebraska open the tournament Saturday morning at 10 am. when Imperial takes on Creighton. That will be followed by an all-Central Nebraska battle at 1 p.m. between St. Paul and Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (Centura).
Play in the bottom half of the bracket gets underway at 4 p.m. when Pender squares off with Shelby-Osceola-Stromsburg. Then at 7 p.m., host Battle Creek takes on Wymore.
The double-elimination tournament continues Sunday with elimination games at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by winners’ bracket contests at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Weather permitting, the champion will be crowned Wednesday.
The price of admission is $7 for adults and $4 for students. Veterans may attend the games free of charge.
