COLUMBUS – Several northeast Nebraska schools are being represented during the 2022 NSAA Boys State Golf Class C Championships.
From the Elks Country Club in Columbus, two complete area teams along with a handful of others sent individuals to open the first round on Tuesday.
Hartington Cedar Catholic is ninth in the team race with a 372 as the top Trojan golfer after day one is Cazden Christensen with an 86 (T-24th).
Tri County Northeast is 14th as a team after day one with a 389 and the top Wolfpack golfer after day one is Garret Blanke with an 88 (T-33rd).
Other area golfers were led by Battle Creek’s Luke Beckman who shot an 87 (T-31st); Ponca’s Grant Sprakel shot a 92 (T-48th); Hartington-Newcastle’s Reece Morten shot a 95 (T-61st) and Winnebago’s Eugene DeCora shot a 101 (T-81st).
The Class C team leader after round one is Columbus Scotus with a 330 followed by Doniphan-Trumbull three shots back at 333.
Individually, Jake Richmond from Yutan shot the low score on Tuesday in Columbus for Class C with a two-over PAR 74 among the 96 golfers.
