WAYNE/ALBION – Two more teams were eliminated during a pair of Senior American Legion baseball tournaments Monday.
From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, Class B State Tournament teams resumed play with a pair of elimination games in the afternoon.
Wahoo used two runs in the sixth to win over McCook 3-1 as Bennington jumped on Lincoln Lutheran early for an 11-0 win in five innings. Of the undefeated teams, Springfield tallied four runs in the second inning to hold on for the 7-2 victory.
Tuesday schedule will start with an elimination game at 4 p.m. between Wahoo and Hickman as undefeated Springfield will take on a one-loss Bennington team at 7 p.m.
From Leon Nelson Memorial Field in Albion, Class C Senior Legion State Tournament games continued.
In the elimination games: Centura held off a late run from Creighton 9-7 as Wilber won over Gordon-Rushville 4-0. In the winner’s bracket, David City won a low-scoring contest over Pender 2-1.
Pender will face Centura at 5 p.m. Tuesday to fight off elimination as an undefeated David City team will take on a one-loss Wilber team. Pender has played both DCB (Centura) and Wilber on Saturday and Sunday.
