Class B, C Junior Legion State Tournament Weekend Results

PENDER/WAVERLY – As day three is underway for the 2021 Classes B and C Junior American Legion state baseball tournaments, area teams are still in the mix for a title.

Pender is the host site for Class C while Waverly is hosting the Class B Junior state tourney.

From Dave Nitzschke Field in Pender, Class C Junior state tourney action opened the first round on Saturday as Lincoln Christian defeated Palmer (PWG), 4-3; Syracuse defeated Imperial, 4-2; Yutan defeated Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells, 10-2 and Centura (DCB) defeated host Pender, 5-2.

On Sunday, Palmer eliminated Imperial, 3-2 while the host Pender knocked out Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells, 8-5 as winner’s bracket results favored Lincoln Christian over Syracuse, 1-0 and Yutan defeated Centura, 6-5.

Day three is scheduled for Monday, July 19 opening with elimination games at 1 p.m. between the host Pender vs. Syracuse as well as Palmer (PWG) vs. Centura (DCB) at 4 p.m. The winner’s bracket game will be at 7 p.m. featuring Lincoln Christian vs. Yutan.

The Class C Junior finals are scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 as July 22 is meant for any delays.

 

From Lawson Park in Waverly, the Class B Junior state tournament began on Saturday as Pierce topped Central City/Fullerton, 6-3; the host Waverly defeated Arlington, 5-0; Blair defeated Chadron, 9-8 as Beatrice defeated Broken Bow, 12-5.

On Sunday, Chadron eliminated Central City, 12-3 while Arlington knocked out Broken Bow, 5-4 as winner’s bracket results favored Pierce over Blair, 11-1 as Beatrice defeated Waverly, 5-2.

Day three is scheduled for Monday, July 19 opening with elimination games at noon between Blair and Arlington as well as the host Waverly vs. Chadron at 3 p.m. The winner’s bracket game will be at 6 p.m. featuring Pierce vs. Beatrice.

The Class B Junior state tournament finals will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 with July 22 being scheduled for any delays.
