Class B, C Junior American Legion Baseball State Tournament Finals Set

PENDER/WAVERLY – Championship Wednesday is set for Class B and C Junior American Legion state baseball tournaments.

Pender is the host site for Class C while Waverly is hosting the Class B Junior state tourney.

From Dave Nitzschke Field in Pender, Class C Junior state tourney Tuesday scores saw Lincoln Christian eliminate Centura (DCB), 5-2 while Yutan knocked out Syracuse, 11-2.

Yutan is the lone undefeated team remaining and has earned a spot in the championship game.

The Class C Junior finals are scheduled for 5 p.m. this evening as Lincoln Christian must win twice to win the tournament. Yutan defeated Lincoln Christian, 13-12 on Monday thanks to a four-run seventh.


From Lawson Park in Waverly, the Class B Junior state tournament continued with games on Tuesday as Beatrice eliminated Blair, 5-2 while the host Waverly knocked out Pierce, 8-0.

Beatrice advanced to Wednesday’s final as the lone undefeated team. Waverly will need to win twice to be crowned the Class B Junior state champion.

The Class B Junior state tournament finals will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 as Beatrice defeated Waverly, 5-2 on Saturday thanks to a three-run top of the eighth.
