OMAHA – Class B wrestlers were in action throughout the morning and into the afternoon while Class C competitors will be in action this evening during the 2021 NSAA State Wrestling Championships.
From CHI Omaha, Class B was led by Gering with 63.5 points after the opening day.
Wayne High: advanced four of six wrestlers onto the final day led by semifinalist Garrett Schultz (106). Ashton Munsell (126), Reece Jaqua (132) and Martin Carrillo (220) will compete in a third consolation match Saturday. Zach McManigal (113) went 0-2 while Reid Korth (182) went 1-2. Wayne is 17th with 21 points.
Pierce: four of their six wrestlers advanced to day two led by three semifinalists being Ashton Schweitzer (152), Michael Kruntorad (160) and Zander Schweitzer (170). Brock Boling (126) will compete in a third round consolation match Saturday. Blake Bowling (132) went 0-2 and Jayden Coulter (138) went 1-2. Pierce sits seventh with 39 points.
West Point-Beemer: advanced two of their wrestlers to the final day being Ty Kaup (145) and Joe Rodriguez (220) in a third consolation match. Edward Pena (106) went 0-2 and Cooper Colston (195) went 1-2. West Point-Beemer is T-29th with 11 points.
Class C wrestlers will go through the same format this evening from 5 – 9 p.m. while Class B wrestlers who are still alive will return to the math from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday. Class C will compete in their day two semifinals, consolation round three, consolation semifinals, third place and fifth place matches from 1 – 5 p.m. All finals for Classes B/C will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
