Class A & B State Golf Champions, Norfolk And York Win By Wide Margin

NORFOLK/COLUMBUS – With first place set after day one, it was a three-way race for second in the 2018 Class A Boys State Golf Championships Wednesday as York pulled away in Class B as state champions.

From the Norfolk Country Club, Norfolk High shot a 213 second day score to be crowned champions with a +27. Millard North edged Lincoln Southwest for second (627-628) as Creighton Prep finished fourth with a 631 two-day score and Papillion-LaVista rounded out the top five teams with a 636.

The individual leader was also from Norfolk being Luke Kluver finishing with a -5, 139 score. Joshua Peters of Millard North and Jason Kobas of Lincoln Pius X tied for second each with a 147.

At the Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, York shot a 315 second round score to end up with a 632. Omaha Skutt Catholic followed in second with a 657, Beatrice placed third with a 661, Scottsbluff finished fourth with a 667 and Mount Michael Benedictine rounded out the top five teams with a 681.

Individually, Caleb Badura of Aurora shot a 142 two-day score to be crowned champion. Platteview’s Jordan Hart shot a 152 to place runner-up as Charles Zielinski of Omaha Skutt Catholic and Graham Southwick of Beatrice both shot a 153.

The lone area individual competing in Columbus was Teague Stewart of West Point-Beemer who tied for 32nd. He shot an 85 both days to total a 170 two-day score.
