Championship Wednesday Set For Senior American Legion Baseball Teams

WISNER/BROKEN BOW – Two teams remain in Class C while a trio of teams are still alive in Class B for Senior American Legion state tournament baseball in Nebraska following Tuesday’s competition.

From Wisner City Park in Wisner, Malcolm improved to 4-0 in the tournament and eliminated Battle Creek, 8-4 while one-loss DCB knocked out Syracuse, 3-1 (three runs scored in third inning).

The Class C Senior American Legion baseball championship game is slated for 5 p.m. this evening between Malcolm and DCB. Malcolm will need just one win to be crowned state champion.

Earlier in the tournament on Sunday, Malcolm defeated DCB, 2-1 scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.

From Paul Brown Field in Broken Bow, Columbus Lakeview won their third straight elimination game and handed Hickman their first loss in the tournament by a score of 15-6. Waverly eliminated Blair, 7-6.

Day five of the Class B State Tournament will feature a rematch from Saturday of Columbus Lakeview vs. Waverly at 1 p.m. (Waverly won 8-5 over Lakeview in the first round) with the winner to face Hickman in the winner-take-all championship game around 4 p.m.
