Cedar Catholic Wins In Four, Hartington-Newcastle Sweeps Plainview

HARTINGTON – Both Hartington Cedar Catholic and Hartington-Newcastle played on their respective home courts Thursday evening.

Cedar Catholic entertained Guardian Angels Central Catholic and won in four sets to now sit 12-9 on the season snapping a three-match losing streak.

Abby Hochstein recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 18 digs along with Aiden Wortmann finishing with 30 set assists and 13 digs. Brooklyn Kuehn led the Trojans in kills with 11 while Kenlee Goeden and Brynn Wortmann (15 digs) both had eight kills. Megan Heimes tallied 14 digs followed by Tori Arens with 10 digs and a team-high four service aces.

 

For Hartington/Newcastle they entertained Plainview and won in straight sets (25-17, 25-10, 25-10). The Wildcats are now 10-6 overall.

Kayden Jueden posted a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs to go along with four service aces and two solo blocks for HNS. Abbe Morten finished with eight kills and 11 digs (five aces/three solo blocks) while Brianna Hopping had 25 set assists (four aces/three digs).

HCC will next host Ponca while Hartington-Newcastle will entertain Randolph both on Thursday, October 10.
