WAYNE – For the second time this season, the Wayne High girls golf team hosted an invitational.
Thursday from the Wayne Country Club, Hartington Cedar Catholic outshot Columbus Lakeview 404-417 to be crowned 2018 Metteer Champions. Battle Creek edged Archbishop Bergan in third 418-419 while Columbus Scotus and Norfolk Catholic rounded out the top six teams with a 428.
Wayne High shot a 447 to place seventh, followed by Pierce in eighth with a 471, West Point-Beemer placed ninth (492), Elkhorn Valley (10th – 501), O’Neill (11th – 506), Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (12th – 513), Norfolk (13th – 526), Schuyler (14th – 570) and South Sioux City (15th – 656). Boone Central/Newman Grove and Thurston-Cuming also saw golfer compete in the invite.
Paige Peters of TC shot the low score on the day of a 78, followed by Ireland Biltoft of Hartington Cedar Catholic with an 86 and Abby Brodersen of Boone Central/Newman Grove finished third with an 87.
For Wayne High, Natalie Bentjen was the top medalist shooting a 98 to finish 10th as Hana Nelsen finished 17th with a 103. Other Blue Devil scores came from Marrissa Lutt (121) and Cassidy Manz (125).
Results from the LCC girls golf team resulted in Glenda Vance shooting a 112, Jadyn Kinkaid with a 118, Hope Swanson (132) and Brianna Campbell (151).
The Wayne High girls golf team will next compete in the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Invite this Saturday. Tee time is set for 9 a.m.
