Cedar Catholic Edges Battle Creek By A Stroke, C3 District Boys Results

BATTLE CREEK – Several northeast Nebraska boys golf programs were represented in a district golf outing Monday.

From Fair Play Golf Course in Battle Creek, the Braves hosted 13 other teams during the C-3 District.

Hartington Cedar Catholic was one stroke better than the host Battle Creek (328-329) while BRLD punched their team ticket to state with a 367.

Pierce placed fourth with a 371, Crofton fifth shooting a 380 over Ponca who took sixth with a 382, Norfolk Catholic (seventh – 386) and Neligh-Oakdale (eighth – 391). Lutheran High Northeast (391), Bloomfield (412), Wisner-Pilger (415), Wakefield/Allen (444), Stanton (461) and Ainsworth (463) closed out team scoring.

The top individual was sophomore Rockney Peck of Wisner-Pilger who finished with a 78 while a pair of Cedar Catholic golfer’s sophomore Riley Kuehn also shot a 78 and junior Ted Bengston placed third with a 79.

Other individual qualifiers included senior Cole Richards of Ponca (seventh – 82), junior Eric Anderson of Norfolk Catholic (eighth – 82) and senior Connor Dahl of Crofton (ninth – 83).

 

Class C2 District: From Indian Trails Country Club in Beemer, senior Andrew Franzluebbers of Guardian Angels Central Catholic punched hist ticket to state with a runner-up finish shooting a 78.

The Class C State Championships will be played in Kearney from the Meadowlark Hills Golf Course May 21-22.

 

Class D3 District: From the Tatanka Golf Club in Niobrara, senior Jacob Lingenfelter of Plainview and junior Conner Hammer of Creighton were the top golfers both shooting a 79. Junior Carter Schnoor of Randolph placed third with an 80.

Class D golfers will hold their state competition from Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte.
