CatBacker Golf Outing Postponed To July 10-11, Teams Split Among Two Days

WAYNE – A limit of 50 teams will be split among two days during this year’s Wayne State College CatBacker Golf Tournament which was postponed a month.

According to a release from the Wayne State College Athletics Department, the 2020 CatBacker will be postponed from June 6 to a two-day event of Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11. A limit of 25 teams per day is being set as the outing will take place at the Wayne Country Club.

The WSC athletic department does understand that the scheduled date of the 40th annual Wayne Chicken Show (July 10 – 12) could also be happening and they’ve been in contact with the Wayne Area Economic Development office as this is being planned as a one-time date change for the CatBacker.

College officials are also working with the Wayne Country Club, Michael Foods and Pac N Save in regards to the details of the event. As the date approaches the group will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and communicate with participants via email and Wayne State College social media accounts.

Those interested in signing up are encouraged to sign up their team or confirm their sponsorship. For those who have already registered, their team will be able to select which date they would like to golf.

The CatBacker Golf outing will be a four-person scramble. Costs for sponsor fees, entry fee options and other day of event options can be found on the attached brochure.

The tourney would open with registration and breakfast between 8 – 9:15 a.m. followed by welcome and orientation from 9:15 – 9:30 a.m. with the shotgun start being scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided on the course between 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.; dinner from 3:30 – 5 p.m. as well as program and awards from 5 – 6 p.m. The schedule, meals and format may be subject to change due to COVID-19.

The new entry deadline is by Friday, July 3.
