CatBacker Golf Attendees Encouraged To Register Teams, College Officials Working With Country Club On Possible Rescheduled Dates

WAYNE – A scholarship fundraiser for Wayne State College student-athletes may not be able to take place on its original date this summer, but college officials are still encouraging those who plan on attending to register or confirm their sponsorship.

The 2020 CatBacker Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, June 5. Due to COVID-19 and suggested guidelines by the CDC for gatherings of 10+ individuals, there is a possibility it will not happen on its scheduled date as the safety and health of the staff and supporters remain the top priority. Wayne State College is working closely with the Wayne Country Club at potential dates later this summer.

As the event date approaches, WSC will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and communicate with everyone via email and social media.

If allowed, the tourney would open with registration and breakfast between 8 – 9:15 a.m. followed by welcome and orientation from 9:15 – 9:30 a.m. with the shotgun start being scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided on the course between 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.; dinner from 3:30 – 5 p.m. as well as program and awards from 5 – 6 p.m.

The CatBacker Golf outing will be a four-person scramble. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places in four flights as well as first and second places in mixed/women’s flights.

Costs for sponsor fees, entry fee options and other day of event options can be found on the attached brochure.

The CatBacker Golf Tournament will support the Wildcat coaches, student-athletes and teams. Golfers will receive 18 holes of golf, a gift, entry into door prize raffle and hole contests, four complimentary beverages, omelets cooked-to-order by WSC coaches courtesy of Michael Foods, sack lunch delivered on the course courtesy of Pac N Save and dinner courtesy of Pac N Save following completion of play.
