Boys Subdistrict Tournaments Begin Monday, Area Play-In Games Scheduled

OAKLAND – A few area boys basketball teams will begin their postseason with a play-in game while the Wayne High boys will await their opponent.

Wayne High recently won their ninth straight game (18-6) and is the top seed in the C1-6 subdistrict tournament being played at Oakland-Craig high school on Monday and Tuesday, February 24-25 as well as Thursday, February 27.

WHS will await the play-in winner of either #4 West Point-Beemer or #5 Tekamah-Herman who are scheduled to play tonight at 7 p.m.

Semifinal games will be held on Tuesday, February 25 with Wayne High taking on the West Point-Beemer/Tekamah-Herman winner at 6 p.m. followed by #2 Logan View/Scribner-Snyder vs. #3 Winnebago at 7:30 p.m.

C1-6 Boys Oakland

Coverage of Wayne High boys basketball next Tuesday will be carried on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com with the pregame show set for 5:45 p.m. The C1-6 subdistrict championship game will be played on Thursday, February 27 at 7 p.m. in Oakland.

C1-7 Boys Norfolk

Pierce (C1-7) from Norfolk High: #2 Pierce vs. #3 Norfolk Catholic at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. #1 Battle Creek will await the play-in winner between #4 Boone Central/Newman Grove or #5 Madison who play Monday at 7 p.m.

C2-4 Boys Pender

Ponca/Wakefield (C2-4) hosted by Pender: #4 Wakefield will open the play-in game vs. #5 Walthill at 7 p.m. Monday with the winner to face #1 BRLD Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The other semifinal game Tuesday will feature #2 Ponca vs. #3 Omaha Nation at 7:30 p.m.

C2-5 Boys Wayne

Hartington Cedar Catholic/Wisner-Pilger (C2-5) hosted by Wayne: #1 Hartington Cedar Catholic will await the winner of the play-in game between #4 Crofton and #5 Stanton who play Monday at 6 p.m. The other semifinal game scheduled for Tuesday will feature #2 Wisner-Pilger vs. #3 Lutheran High Northeast at 7:45 p.m.

D1-4 Boys Ponca

Allen/Hartington-Newcastle/Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (D1-4) hosted by Ponca: #1 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will open the subdistrict vs. #4 Homer at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by #2 Allen vs. #3 Hartington-Newcastle at 7:30 p.m.

D2-4 Boys Wisner

Emerson-Hubbard/Randolph/Pender/Winside (D2-4) hosted by Wisner-Pilger: #4 Emerson-Hubbard will open with a play-in game Monday vs. #5 Winside at 7 p.m. as the winner will face #1 Randolph at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The other half of the bracket will feature #2 Wynot vs. #3 Pender at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
