WAYNE – Following the District Final results, the 2018 NSAA Boys State Basketball Championship All-Class bracket has been announced for next week.
From the area, Winnebago (C1), Ponca and Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur (C2), Osmond (D1) and Wynot (D2) have all punched their ticket to state. Games will be played on Thursday, March 8 – Saturday, March 10 in Lincoln.
(20-6) Winnebago earned the #2 seed in Class C1 from a wildcard after dropping a 63-62 District Final to Boone Central/Newman Grove. This marks the fourth straight year the Indians have qualified for state after finishing third place the last two years in C1 defeating Columbus Scotus (71-68/OT) in 2017 and in C2 defeating Amherst (74-73/OT) in 2016. Winnebago was crowned C1 champions in 2015.

The defending Class C2 state champions, (27-1) Ponca is back at state for the second straight year. Ponca defeated Creighton, 68-36 in the District Final.

(24-2) Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur will be making their first state tourney appearance as a consolidated program. Bancroft-Rosalie qualified for state seven times and recently in 2015 finishing runner-up in D2. Lyons-Decatur has only been to state once in 1994. Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur edged Battle Creek, 40-38 in the District Final.
First round C2 game for #5 BRLD vs. #4 (19-4) Elmwood-Murdock at 8:45 p.m. from Lincoln Southeast HS.
In Class D1, (22-3) #5 Osmond quailed for their ninth state tournament, first since 1999. The Tigers defeated North Central, 70-50 in the District Final.
First round D1 game from Lincoln Northeast HS: Osmond vs. #4 (20-3) Heartland at 2 p.m.
From Class D2, (14-9) #7 Wynot has punched their ticket to state for the third straight year and eighth time in school history. The Blue Devils took third place last year and this year defeated Humphrey St. Francis, 55-45 in the District Final.
First round D2 game from Lincoln Northeast HS: Wynot vs. #2 (23-2) Riverside at 7 p.m.
