WAYNE – Postseason softball opened Monday afternoon with a 17-run, 15-hit outing for Wayne High.
From the Wayne Softball Complex, #1 WHS hosted game number one of the B-6 Softball Tournament against #4 Schuyler and won 17-0. The Blue Devils are now 18-6 as the Warriors ended their season at 1-26.
Schuyler recorded an out against the first Wayne batter, before WHS recorded six straight hits. The Blue Devils posted a 12-run first inning and added five more runs in the second to win 17-0.
Kendall Dorey singled, doubled and drove in two runs while Mikaela McManigal singled, drove in three runs and scored twice for Wayne. Brooklyn Kruse singled twice and scored twice; Taytum Sweetland singled twice, drove in two runs and scored as Hope O’Reilly singled twice, drove in a run and scored.
Caitlyn Mostek singled, drove in a run and scored; Liberty Titiml, Rylin Hall and Jersi Jensen all singled and drove in a run; Brianna Nissen accounted for a RBI and run scored; Delaney Kruse accounted for two RBI and a run scored; Taytem Ellis singled and scored twice; Aliah Schulz singled and scored; Virginia Kniesche scored three times as Kierah Haase and Logan Miller both scored.
Sammi Gubbels (53 patches) secured the complete game win in three innings allowing one hit while striking out four batters and walking one.
