Blue Devils Go 2-1 During Wisner-Pilger Volleyball Invite

WISNER – With a home triangular and another match to be held in Wayne this week, the Wayne High volleyball team took their talents to the road Saturday.

From Wisner-Pilger high school, WHS competed in the Wisner-Pilger Invite.

Following a loss to Humphrey St. Francis (15-25, 20-25), Wayne High secured a pair of sweeps by defeating Wisner-Pilger (25-14, 25-11) and Madison (25-8, 25-9). WHS improves to 17-4 on the season and will next host Arlington and West Point-Beemer Tuesday.

From the loss to St. Francis, Lauren Pick recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs while Mikaela McManigal added four kills. Emily Armstrong (13 digs) and Rubie Klausen each tallied three kills. Hailey Backer tacked on 21 digs followed by Sydney Redden with 11 digs. Kiara Krusemark finished with 27 set assists.

 

During the win over Wisner-Pilger, Pick and Armstrong both finished with seven kills. Frankie Klausen (11 digs) and Rubie Klausen each added three kills. Redden tallied 10 digs followed by Backer with nine and Krusemark finished with 22 set assists.

 

In the win over Madison, Rubie Klausen and Armstrong (four service aces, nine solo blocks) both finished with six kills as Pick tallied five kills and eight digs. Backer was the team leader in digs with 11 while Krusemark tacked on 15 set assists.
