Blue Devils Finish Second In Road Triangular, Johnson Ties For First

HARTINGTON – Members of the Wayne High girls golf team were right back on the course to open the week with a road triangular.

Form the Hartington Golf Club in Hartington, WHS joined both Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and the host Hartington Cedar Catholic on Monday for a nine-hole outing.

LCC edged Wayne High, 201-206 (correction from morning sports/sportsgram) while Hartington Cedar Catholic JV placed third (236) and HCC varsity in fourth (238).

The top Blue Devil girls golf medalist was Joslyn Johnson who tied with Holly Patefield (LCC) each shooting a 47. Other scorers for Wayne included Charli Sievers (51), Riley Haschke (52), Carli Canham (56) and Lindsay Niemann (58).

The top Hartington Cedar Catholic golfer was Maci Shommer with a 53.

Wayne’s Junior Varsity golfers were also in action and were led by Trinity Surber (70) followed by Rylynn Owen (75) and Hallie Heithold (79).

Wayne High will next be in action during their first of five home outings this season on Friday, August 26 during the Wayne Invitational from the Wayne Country Club starting at 9 a.m. The Blue Devil girls golf team will also host Battle Creek and Elkhorn Valley at 4 p.m. next Tuesday, August 30 during a home triangular.
