COLUMBUS – As the Blue Devil volleyball program prepares for their first road triangular of the season, WHS took to the road competing against Columbus Scotus Tuesday night.
Wayne High took a 2-1 lead through three sets but it was Scotus closing out the final two sets winning in five over the Blue Devils. Columbus Scotus improves to 3-2 thanks to a five-set victory of 25-17, 8-25, 20-25, 25-19 and 15-10. WHS is now 4-3 overall.
Lauren Pick posted a team-high 35 kills and was second on the team in digs with 26 followed by Emily Longe with 13 kills and the lone solo block. Sydney Redden recorded a team-high 36 digs, Rubie Klausen added six kills and 14 digs, Mady Sievers finished with three kills and Kiara Krusemark tallied 57 set assists and one kill.
As a team, Wayne finished with five service aces coming from Sievers with two as Reagan Backer (23 digs), Klausen and Krusemark all had one ace.
The Wayne High volleyball team will next compete in the North Bend Central Triangular with Aquinas Catholic on Saturday, September 12.
