WAYNE – An early season softball tournament was held in Wayne over the weekend showcasing the talent of eight teams.
From the Wayne Softball Complex, the WHS Softball Tournament took place Saturday with a total of 12 games.
Wayne High secured a 10-0 victory over Highway 91 in the morning before moving past Arlington, 9-5 and securing an 11-3 victory over Twin River in the championship round.
Wayne High is now 3-1 on the season and will next host O’Neill on Tuesday, August 23 at 5 p.m. for JV competition and 6:30 p.m. for the varsity outing from the Wayne Softball Complex.

Other championship round placings favored Arlington over Centura/Central Valley, 5-4 in the third place game; Ponca topped HWY 91, 4-2 to finish fifth while Pierce defeated Ord, 14-2 in the seventh place contest.
