PLAINVIEW – Wayne High closed out their wrestling regular season ahead of the new format for the postseason beginning with a subdistrict round this weekend.
From Plainview Public Schools, the Blue Devils joined 16 other programs during the Plainview Invite.
Crofton-Bloomfield won the invite with 189 points, the host Plainview finished second with 169 points, Wayne High took third with 134 points, Norfolk Catholic came in fourth with 124 points and Quad County Northeast rounded out the top five teams with 116 points.
Other area team scoring came from Ponca (seventh – 83), Hartington Cedar Catholic (10th – 64), Lutheran High Northeast (11th – 48), Winnebago (12th – 42), Creighton (14th – 22) and Osmond (15th – 13).
Wayne High was led by Reece Jaqua (132) who won his weight class, Dakota Spann (182) took second as Zach McManigal (113) and Ashton Munsell (126) both finished third. Garrett Schultz (106), Eli Barner (138), Aiden Liston (170) and Martin Carrillo (220) placed fourth.
Wayne High will next join Blair, Falls City, Omaha Gross Catholic, Seward and York during the B2-B subdistrict hosted by York High School on Saturday, February 6 starting at 10:30 a.m.
