Blue Devil Wrestling Places Seventh, Two Individual Conference Champions

BATTLE CREEK – As conference basketball tournament action continues, Mid State Conference wrestling programs got together for their own one-day tourney.

From Battle Creek high school, nine conference teams were in action Thursday late afternoon.

Pierce won the Mid State Tourney with 188.5 points, followed by O’Neill with 157.5 points in second, Boone Central/Newman Grove took third with 144 points, Battle Creek came in fourth with 138.5 points as Crofton-Bloomfield rounded out the top five teams with 109 points. Other team scoring came from Guardian Angels Central Catholic (sixth – 84), Wayne (seventh – 83), Norfolk Catholic (eighth – 66) and Hartington Cedar Catholic (ninth – 44).

Wayne High leaders were Reece Jaqua (126) and Cade Janke (195) winning their weight classes, Dakota Spann (182) placed third and Ashton Munsell (120) took fourth.

The Wayne High wrestling team will next compete in the Norfolk Catholic Invite on Saturday, February 8 starting at 9:30 a.m. WHS will also next take part in the B-3 District Invite on Friday and Saturday, February 14-15 from Pierce high school.
