WEST POINT – The Wayne High wrestling team took to the road for a weekend dual invitational.
Four varsity teams and two JV teams competed in the West Point-Beemer Dual Invite Saturday.
Wayne High went 4-1 on the day with wins against York JV (69-9), Fort Calhoun (52-30), Quad-County Northeast (60-21) and Omaha Central JV (59-21) while falling to the host West Point-Beemer (54-24). WHS is now 7-1 in dual competition.
West Point-Beemer won their home dual meet with other wins against Quad-County Northeast (66-13); Omaha Central JV (71-12); Fort Calhoun (48-27) and York JV (66-12).
Two Blue Devil wrestlers won all five of their matches.
Reece Jaqua (126) went 5-0 by first winning by forfeit against York JV; by forfeit over Fort Calhoun; by fall (0:35) over Gabe Wortman (Quad-County Northeast); by fall (fastest pin/:07) over Xander Fisher (Omaha Central JV) and by fall (0:55) over Ryan Woitaszewski (West Point-Beemer).
Cade Janke (195) went 5-0 starting with a win by fall (1:55) over Jacob Frink (York JV); by major decision (8-0) over Jesse Hartline (Fort Calhoun); by fall (3:42) over Kobly Casey (Quad-County Northeast); by fall (1:27) over Zaul Moniz-DeLeon (Omaha Central JV) and by fall (1:14) over Alex Montenegro (West Point-Beemer).
Reid Korth (170) went 4-1 on the day opening with a win by fall (:12) over Joseph Wallick (York JV); by forfeit against Fort Calhoun; by fall (3:00) against Levi Jackson (Quad-County Northeast); by fall (1:55) over Gage Hooper (Omaha Central JV) and lost by fall (1:58) to Zachary Paasch (West Point-Beemer).
The Wayne High wrestling team will next host Creighton on Thursday, December 19 for their parents night starting at 6:30 p.m. WHS will also compete in the Wisner-Pilger Invite on Saturday, December 21 at 9 a.m.
