Blue Devil Wrestling Places Fourth In Team Standings, Two Individual Champions During Norfolk Catholic Invite

NORFOLK – A couple days after sending their team to the Mid State Conference Tourney, the Wayne High wrestling program was back at work during a weekend invite.

From Norfolk Catholic high school, WHS joined 11 other teams during the Norfolk Catholic Invite Saturday.

O’Neill won the invite with 171.5 points, followed by Columbus Lakeview in second with 159.5 points, Bishop Neumann took third with 134 points, Wayne placed fourth with 106 points and West Point- Beemer rounded out the top five teams with 103 points.

Other team scoring came from GACC (sixth – 68), Norfolk Catholic (seventh – 61.5), Hartington Cedar Catholic (eighth – 54), Wisner-Pilger (ninth – 43), Lutheran High Northeast (10th – 26), Clarkson/Leigh (11th – 25) and Scribner-Snyder scored no points.

Wayne High leaders were Reece Jaqua (126) and Mike Leatherdale (285) both winning their weight classes, Cade Janke (195) finished second, Ashton Munsell (120) took third as Zachary McManigal (106) and Eli Barner (132) both placed fourth.

The Wayne High wrestling program will next compete in the B-3 District Meet on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 hosted by Pierce.
