Blue Devil Wrestling Places Fourth At Malcolm Invite, Leatherdale Wins Heavy Weight Class

MALCOLM – The Wayne High wrestling team continued their stretch of road competition with a weekend invitational.

From Malcolm high school, WHS joined 14 other teams during the Malcolm Invite Saturday.

Millard South won the invite with 176.5 points, followed by York in second with 140 points, Cross County/Osceola placed third with 130.5 points, Wayne High finished fourth with 117.5 points and Yutan took fifth with 110 points.

Malcolm (sixth – 101), Omaha Concordia (seventh – 81), Freeman (eighth – 68.5), Lincoln North Start (ninth – 57), Southern (10th – 48), Palmyra (11th – 47), Lincoln Pius X (12th – 35), Fremont (13th – 33), Lincoln Lutheran (14th – 17) and Dorchester (15th – 10).

Wayne High’s top performers came from Mike Leatherdale (285) winning his division, followed by Reece Jaqua (126) in second, Cade Janke (195) finished third, Zachary McManigal (106), Reid Korth (170) and Dakota Spann (182) all placed fourth, James Dorcey (152) and Martin Carrillo (220) took sixth, Ashton Munsell (120) took seventh and Lance Muhs (132) finished eighth.

The Wayne High wrestling team will next visit Battle Creek on Thursday, January 16 for a road dual at 7 p.m.
